The Park has room for 21 more camps, keep in mind tentage and clothing must adhere to Great Lakes / Canadian Fur Trade 1780-1815. The dates this year are August 6-10th on the shores of Lake Superior at the National Parks Reconstructed Fur Depot of the NWco., 6 miles from Canada and 40 minutes from the world's largest reconstructed fur depot, Fort William.
This year:

In the stockade yard demonstrators include:

Roger Cook; Great Lakes Blacksmith on the bellows
Jim Kimpell and Max Schram: Tinsmithing all weekend
Jacki Bedworth: Basketry of willow and ash etc..
Robert Rossdeuscher: also on the bellows pounding out blades and hand-filing blades such as french folders and scalpers
and maybe...
Pegeen Rozeske: using her bore bristle and twine and manufacturing her custom cobbled shoes.

Workshops for the public and participants include:

LaCrosse
Net-Making
18th Century Childrens Games
Brain-tanning
Tinsmithing
Blacksmithing
How to Start Reenacting
Felt Hat Beaver to Topper
Beefhide Shoes in History
18th century English Music
Music and Scotland and haggis making
18th century Waltz lessons with large muscial group "Over the waterfall"

Visit the new museum with hundreds and hundreds of 18th century artifacts and interactive displays, see the news exhibits in the stockade like the new Trade Shop room.

Look for temps to be as warm as 82 in the day and as cool as 38 in the evening, most likely 70s and 50s...

Several hundred reenactors from over 12 states are signed up as well as large canoes to ply the Great lake...

see you at GP in 2008

Gads Karl, you're killing me with the photos! I missed FFA last weekend too, but a fellow has to cut hay when the sun is shining... Anybody know of a big union plumbing project going on near a cool historical site for the next year or so?!...

I'd love to play some transcriptions of the European greats on the porch of the Great Hall and even put your crew to sleep with some newer instrumental music. If work puts me up north I'll play hookey for a day and corrupt the authenticity with my guitar, but otherwise you folks have a blast and take tons of pictures for us working stiffs, ja?
