I can remember when this board was busy with discussions. Now, it seems to be on life support. Any suggestions to kick start it?

I've been wondering the same. With well over 100 views thus far to my introduction post and one reply I'm unsure as to just how welcome I am around here. Lol ;)

Dead Horse,
Welcome to the Message Board.
Like most hobbies, this to has it ups and downs. What we need is another good movie set in colonial America to get the juices flowing again. Mean while here in Texas my trekking partners and I keep getting into woods when time and family allows. Keep the faith. Trekking is far from dead.

Welcome, deadhorse, and mtmike.
This place is kind of Slow right now.
Stick around, and ask what questions you have.
Hopefully someone will reply.

Ii think most people are doing facebook. Historical Trekking Reenacting is a big page on facebook, lots of selling, trading, and messaging going on. So it looks like facebook is taking over..

Facebook has really hurt boards like this. I think a Historical Trekking.com FB page could breath some life into it.

Mark,
We've had a Facebook page for HistoricalTrekking.com since 2011:

https://www.facebook.com/HistoricalTrekking

None of the boards are as active as they once were. I think that there are several contributing factors, with Facebook being the primary reason. But HistoricalTrekking.com also grew much less active when I removed several of our users whose main contribution was creating discontent and starting arguments.

That kind of drama is good for the site but bad for the hobby. Personally I would rather have a dead website and a vibrant hobby.

I have been seriously considering shutting down HistoricalTrekking.com, for several reasons. The board isn't active, the forum software is outdated, and I don't have the time to update it and bring it current.
